The Edge Clinic – Prerequisites for Training & Assessments
What’s your skiing level?
If you are considering one of the training options listed in the courses dropdown menu, have a look at the Ability Level Table below to try and assess you own level of ability. This can be used by ourselves as a helpful indicator so we are able to provide you with the most suitably designed training program. Any video footage you may have of yourself will also help us to provide the ability (from day one) to give you the best possible outcome.
Level | Ability |
1 | Beginner: This is probably your first or second time on skis. You've only skied on a nursery slope (without using a ski lift) and still require lessons on the practice area. |
2 | Novice: You are able to make linked snowplough turns down ‘blue’ runs and are looking to start developing your technique to be more parallel. You wish to progress to parallel skiing ‘blue’ runs. |
3 | Low Intermediate: You can ski ‘blue’ runs relatively confidently, making basic parallel turns and are looking to develop these turns. |
4 | High Intermediate: You can make confident linked parallel turns down ‘blue’ and easy 'red' runs and would like to up your performance on the piste and learn skills to be able to ski more challenging ‘red’ runs with confidence. On a blue piste you can carve and leave two clean lines from the first 2 thirds of the turn and are wanting to carve throughout the whole turn. |
5 | Advanced: You can make confident linked parallel turns on most 'red' & ‘black' runs and are looking to up your performance on the piste, learn how to ski steeper terrain, bumps & off-piste. On a steep blue you can make linked carved turns leaving two clean lines throughout the turn and are wanting to achieve this on a 'red'. |
6 | Expert: You are confident skilled skier on all terrain, with a high level of ski performance. Looking to challenge your yourself in tougher terrain, variable snow conditions, bumps, steeps & off-piste. |
* For skiers within the levels of 1 and including 3, we would be happy to recommend you to a local ski school.
